LP1 - SPEECH
WALT persuade others


Your Task:

  • First, check that ALL of your ideas have been included in your speech.
  • Do you have connecting language such as FIRSTLY, SECONDLY, AND, BECAUSE, NOW, FINALLY.....
  • Read your speech into an iPad and upload it to your blog.
  • WOW - Write one sentence (or more) about what you have done well. This could be the way you talk, the flow of the speech ~ YOU DECIDE what you think is important about your speech
  • WOW - Write one sentence (or more) about if you have included all of the main points.  Do you will persuade others' to do what you want to do?
  • NOW - Listen back to your speech.  Write about what you think you can do to make improvements to your speech. 
  • Go away and work on the improvements that you have identified in your speech. The repeat this process ONE MORE TIME.
  • You will end up with TWO speeches on your blog.  Your second post should show growth and improvement from your first post.
LP2 - SPELLING

  • Write your list of words into your Homework Booklet
  • Write each word in FANCY WRITING in the front of your Handwriting Book.
  • All words must fit onto ONE page
  • Te Reo Māori Date and WALT must be at the top of the page

Term 3, Week 2

LP1 - SPEECH

Your Task:
  • Make sure you have complete the DREAM BUBBLE and your CONVINCE ME planning sheet
  • Look at your main idea.....are you happy with the ideas you have generated?
  • THIS WEEK WE ARE JUST WRITING THE BODY OF THE SPEECH
  • Begin with the most important idea/point on your CONVINCE ME PLAN.
    Consider HOW you can explain (show, tell) that to your audience in the most effective way for them to easily understand it.
  • Write down what you'd say as if you were talking directly to them.
    If it helps, say everything out loud before you write and/or use a recorder.
    After you've finished, take notes.
  • Continue to do this with the other two ideas you wrote down
  • Check that your three points make sense.

LP2 - SPELL

  • Your task for spelling this week is to write your list of words into your handwriting book.  
  • Each word must be written neatly, three times on one line.
  • Write the date in Te Reo Māori and the WALT at the top of your page.
  • Take care with the size of your writing.
  • Make sure letters sit on the line.
  • Make sure 'tall' letters just about touch the line above.
  • Make sure letters with tails swing just below the 'sitting' line.
  • Miss every second line
  • With a yellow jovi, highlight one word on each line that makes you proud

In your WRITING BOOK, answer the following questions: Do not write the question out ~ answer in full sentence.


  1. Draw a dream bubble in your WRITING BOOK on ONE full page.  Write as many BIG dreams that you have - things that are important to you, things you want to change,  perhaps a job or career, interests/hobbies/achievements etc.
  2. Choose one of those dreams and write why it is important to you?
  3. Why do you think it is important/not important to have dreams?
  4. If you had to persuade someone else to have the same dream as you/think the same way, what do you think you might say to them ~ you have ONE page to do this.
  5. You need THREE good reasons to try and convince them why.  Each of your reasons then need THREE examples/details/explanations to support them.  Here is an example that you might like to use:

Literacy Term 2, Week 10

LP1 - ASSESSMENT

We are learning to.....

  • plan our writing using a plan
  • use a variety of language features in our writing
  • use paragraphs in the correct place
Success Criteria.... we know when we have done this when we have
  • used a plan/mind map/key words to plan our writing
  • used a variety of vivid verbs and amazing adjectives
This week we are using our piece of writing to show evidence of what we have learned by attending workshops and practising writing.  This must be your best piece of writing!

You can use one of our picture prompts or you can choose your own picture to write about.  This gets done in your writing book.

LP2 - SPELLING

  • Your spelling task this week is to draw one shape for each spelling word.  
  • Write your words inside each shape.  
  • Do this 3 times for each word.
INDEPENDENT TASK

  • You can begin working on your digi awards.
  • Create a poster in the program of your choice: Comic Life, Word, Publisher, Google Draw etc.....
  • This project must represent our school, using our school values:  Consideration, Respect, Honesty, Excellence.
  • Get creative! This task will be ongoing.

LP1 - Write About This:

WALT use language features in our writing

  • You will need to use the iPad on your allocated day

  • Using the Write About App, choose a category and photo to write about
  • Choose a picture that you will be able to add in language features
  • When you have finished, you will need to record yourself reading your story. 
  • Save to the movie roll
  • Upload to your blog using Easy Blogger
  • Complete your WOW, WOW and NOW

LP2 - Spelling:

  • Your task this week is Across and Down.  
  • Write each of your words across then down.
  • Do this three times for each word

LP3 - Selfie:

WALT use elements of photography powerfully to create impact

  • Create a poster with 9 boxes. 

In each box you will need a selfie.
  • Convey a message
  • Have good composition (Thirds rule; foreground; background; balance and order)
  • Show one or more of the elements (people, line, colour, light)
  • Demonstrate awareness of angle; fame and/or macro

Independent:

COMIC: WALT create a sequence of ideas
  • Create a comic strip about "Coming to school in the Winter"

  • You can now email to yourself and upload this to your blog
  • WOW - What was the comic strip about
  • WOW - What did you find easy about the comic making tool
  • NOW - What will you do next time to improve this comic strip?

  • Complete this task in your LITERACY BOOK
  • Read the text 'CAFE'
  • Answer the questions at the bottom of the page
  • Remember: Inference is not said directly - so read between the lines
  • Remember: Look for key words to help you
  • Remember:  Answers must come from the clues you get in the story. Consider the writer's intent
