LP1 - SPEECH
WALT persuade others

Your Task:
  • Make sure you have complete the DREAM BUBBLE and your CONVINCE ME planning sheet
  • Look at your main idea.....are you happy with the ideas you have generated?
  • THIS WEEK WE ARE JUST WRITING THE BODY OF THE SPEECH
  • Begin with the most important idea/point on your CONVINCE ME PLAN.
    Consider HOW you can explain (show, tell) that to your audience in the most effective way for them to easily understand it.
  • Write down what you'd say as if you were talking directly to them.
    If it helps, say everything out loud before you write and/or use a recorder.
    After you've finished, take notes.
  • Continue to do this with the other two ideas you wrote down
  • Check that your three points make sense.

LP2 - SPELL
WALT spell accurately

  • Your task for spelling this week is to write your list of words into your handwriting book.  
  • Each word must be written neatly, three times on one line.
  • Write the date in Te Reo Māori and the WALT at the top of your page.
  • Take care with the size of your writing.
  • Make sure letters sit on the line.
  • Make sure 'tall' letters just about touch the line above.
  • Make sure letters with tails swing just below the 'sitting' line.
  • Miss every second line
  • With a yellow jovi, highlight one word on each line that makes you proud

  • Make an “I Wonder” page.  
  • What are all of the things that you wonder about?
  • What interests you?
  • What would you like to learn more about

  • Using Google DRAW, create a poster about a native NZ bird.
  • Find a picture of your bird or draw it using the drawing tools
  • Include these facts in your poster:  Name of bird, habitat, what it likes to eat, two interesting facts

In your WRITING BOOK, answer the following questions: Do not write the question out ~ answer in full sentence.


  1. Draw a dream bubble in your WRITING BOOK on ONE full page.  Write as many BIG dreams that you have - things that are important to you, things you want to change,  perhaps a job or career, interests/hobbies/achievements etc.
  2. Choose one of those dreams and write why it is important to you?
  3. Why do you think it is important/not important to have dreams?
  4. If you had to persuade someone else to have the same dream as you/think the same way, what do you think you might say to them ~ you have ONE page to do this.
  5. You need THREE good reasons to try and convince them why.  Each of your reasons then need THREE examples/details/explanations to support them.  Here is an example that you might like to use:
  6. Do you know anyone famous who "Had a Dream.....?"
